Ultrasound Studio Unit Economics: An Illustrative Worksheet

Illustrative ultrasound studio unit-economics worksheet separating volume, price, cost, and contribution margin

TL;DR — This is an illustrative worksheet, not a verified customer case study or revenue promise. Replace every input with your own current contract, eligible volume, conversion, price, refunds, variable costs, staff time, and taxes before making a decision.

Define the denominator

Start with unique completed appointments that are truly eligible for the add-on. Do not use total inquiries, booked appointments, or every scan if the offer is not available to all of them.

Model the funnel

For one month, record eligible appointments, offers shown, client opt-ins, fulfilled orders, refunds, and chargebacks. Revenue is fulfilled orders multiplied by collected price, not the number of offers.

Separate revenue from contribution margin

Subtract vendor fees, payment fees, refunds, staff time, support, promotions, and other variable costs. Do not call the remainder “passive profit”; confirm which fixed costs and taxes are still excluded.

Run a controlled pilot

Test with a defined cohort and stop rule. Compare measured client acceptance, fulfillment time, support burden, and contribution margin with the current workflow before expanding. Ask Bomee for the current written commercial terms rather than relying on figures from an archived article.
